Coffee with Caregivers: Community Grief Share

Description

This quarter, we’re doing something a little different—by request from our families! Instead of a formal presentation, we’re creating a relaxed, welcoming space for parents of children with different abilities to gather, share, and connect.

We’re honored to have our board member, Maryjo Bullock, founder of Gulf Coast Death Doula, gently guiding this time together. If you haven’t met Maryjo yet, she’s one of the most compassionate people you’ll ever meet, and her trauma-informed approach to grief is truly special.

Maryjo reminds us that grief isn’t always about death. Sometimes, it’s about mourning the plans you pictured, the future you imagined, or the version of life you thought you’d have. This kind of grief—sometimes called ambiguous loss or living grief—is very real for many parents in our community. Feeling it doesn’t mean you love your child any less, or that you aren’t grateful for the life you have. It just means your heart is learning to adjust to a new reality.

If you’ve ever felt this, you’re not alone. Join us for coffee, connection, and honest conversation—no agenda, no pressure. Just a safe, informal space to be with others who get it.
